LPN-to-RN Transition

  1. Apply to S-DC with the intent to enter into the Nursing Program
    Please contact the admissions office at 410-276-0306 x248 or visit sdc.edu for more information on applying to the College.  After applying and taking the placement exam you should meet with a first year experience advisor.  Please turn in official transcripts as soon as possible. Transcript evaluation takes 2-3 weeks, and you may not be able to meet with an advisor until this is complete.
  2. Meet with a Nursing Advisor
    Prior to registering for your first trimester at S-DC and after you have completed the application and transcript evaluation process you should meet with a [Nursing advisor] at your particular campus. At this time you will be advised on what [pre-requisite courses] you may have to take prior to entering the School of Nursing.  All transfer LPNs must be licensed in the state of Maryland by the time applications are due.
  3. Apply to the School of Nursing
    During your final trimester of pre-requisite courses you should apply to the School of Nursing. Before submitting your application, please schedule an appointment to meet with a nursing advisor. There is a $50.00 exam fee. Applications are available [here], at each campus’s Nursing Office and by request via e-mail. Please send application requests to info@sdcnursing.com.

    You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a C in all pre-requisite courses at the time applications are due. Transfer or returning LPNs must get letters of recommendation from two theory instructors AND one recommendation from a clinical instructor or supervisor, for a total of three recommendations.
